What to Expect at your Appointment

Now that you are ready to make some changes and are preparing for your first appointment, know that we are looking forward to working with you to improve your health and wellness. We don't want you to have any surprises during your time at Performance Health and Wellness. Here are some things to expect:

We recommend coming to the appointment wearing workout clothes or something you can comfortably move around in (we do have a changing room). Good closed-toed shoes are also recommended.

During the entire appointment you will be working 1-on-1 with your doctor. We won't pass you off or leave you unsupervised on an exercise bike or other exercise equipment.

Each evaluation (first appointment) is started with a conversation. We want to take the time to listen to your concerns, pain, injury or limitation, story, medical history, and most importantly your goals. This also allows for you to get to know a little more about your doctor as well.

We will then transition to the evaluation portion of our time together. During this time we will gently go through some diagnostic testing, while keeping open communication with you. We will continue to keep you informed of any findings and let you know what is happening and why.

If there is anything we can do on this day to reduce pain or make you feel more comfortable, we will do all we can to do it.

Keep in mind that this first day is a time for us to get to know each other and get a basic understanding of our findings and create a plan. This not a time for us to jump to conclusions or even get the exact "diagnosis". By the end fo the appointment you will be provided with a unique care plan designed to get you back to the performance you desire. 

Again, we do not want surprises when it comes to your care. If at any time you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out. Communication is important to us and we will always answer any questions you may have.

Meet your Physical Therapists

Dr. Kyle Palmer, PT, DPT

I have enjoyed human movement and performance my entire life. I had an active childhood playing various sports, and spending time outdoors. My childhood set a foundation of enjoying physical activity, and from an early age I knew I wanted to help people enjoy movement and an active lifestyle. 

I started a career as a basketball coach less than one year after graduating high school (I was closer in age to my players than their parents). I continued my coaching career for 15 years working my way up to the college level where I served as an assistant coach at colleges all over the country. I was fortunate to be part of many successful programs winning a National Championship and multiple Conference Championships. Helping my athletes improve their movement and performance both on the gym and in the weight room eventually led me to pursue Physical Therapy as a second career.

Experience

I began my Physical Therapy career in a "traditional" outpatient setting and soon discovered that the current model of health care made it nearly impossible for me to take advantage of my education and training, and provide the kind of experience I wanted for my patients.

In the "traditional" model of care I was required to see multiple patients every hour. I would spend 15-20 minutes with them only to send them off to work with assistive personnel for the rest of their appointment. On the rare occasion that I would have time in my schedule that allowed for one-on-one time with a patient we always had greater improvement, or discovered the "missing" element that led to the results they were hoping for. 

It was my time in a "traditional" setting that led me to start Performance Health and Wellness. I now have the freedom to work with clients in a manner that allows me to fully use my skills and training to help people achieve their goals and improve their lifestyle.

Philosophy

My goal while working with you at Performance Health and Wellness is to get you back to the things you love to do, or would like to do​. I fully believe that the human body is made to perform, and has an amazing ability to adapt and improve no matter your age or situation. The human body in not "fragile" or "broken", you are not "too old", and should not have to give up the things you enjoy because of pain or restriction. Once you decide to work together with me, I will value your time, communicate, educate, and create a plan to bring you hope, growth, and strength.

Dr. Tara Kazemfar, PT, DPT

I was born and raised in Crystal River, Florida. I completed my undergraduate degree in exercise science/pre physical therapy at Florida A&M University. I then went on to receive my doctorate degree in physical therapy at the University of Florida. I completed a neuro clinical rotation in Salt Lake City, UT and a sports clinical rotation in Caldwell, ID at the College of Idaho. Following graduation, I moved to Lewiston to work in acute care physical therapy. I then went on to establish the LC Valley's first comprehensive pelvic floor therapy program. I have since been dedicated to caring for pelvic pain, prenatal and postpartum populations along with pediatrics. I live in the valley and enjoy fishing, hunting, jiu-jitsu and kickboxing.
